Rotor Burn out 200

Hi all

I have a 1984 240 DL with a B23F engine and Bosch distributor. A few months ago the car would not start because the rotor in the distributor was fried. I replaced it and the car ran fine. I am putting in a new wiring harness right now and when I remioved the distributor cap I saw the the rotor again was in bad shape in fact it had degraded so badly that the end broke off when I removed it. It appears that it is getting very hot and breaking down...looks like a blown fuse. I was haveing problems with the battery cable. the battery connector kept coming loose from the cable causing much resistance and I had to keep retightining it. I recently replaced the battery cable. Was this caused by the bad battery cable? If not any ideas on what is causing this?

Hers a picture of the failure
