ABS idiot light ON 900

The ABS red warning light on my dashboard is constantly ON.

My mechanic checked this condition and told me that all is working fine, that the command to turn the red light ON has locked on the ON position, but that the ABS system is functional and the airback will deploy if needed. The mechanic also said that the only way to turn the red light off is to replace the entire ABS module which I don't need.

Has anyone have this problem?

Does anyone know how to fix this or turn the light off without having to replace the module (this is a costly option I guess).

I am afraid that if the ABS system does in fact go bad at any time, the red light will be ON and I will ignore it which would be defeating the purpose of the warning light.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks
