Head gasket 'relaxation' time ? 200 1979

M. Aaro of Unitek would have you run the car for 30 minutes, shut it off and loosen each bolt in turn and retighten to the correct torque (I use the 90 degree past final torque) and observe the bolt has turned more than the first time. Do the full operation one bolt at a time. He feels that two or three cycles of this will not hurt and ensure full seating of any head gasket. I have done heads (mostly turbo) both with the heat cycle relaxation and without and had good luck every time. I do think there might be merit to the cycling though after talking with him.
