Is there an easy way to drain and also flush out the inside of the fuel tank? 200 1989

240 DL sedan 1989 140K miles

Seeing as I will be doing a fuel sending unit/prepump replacement soon, I would think it a good idea to take the opportunity to clean out the insides of the fuel tank. I would expect there to be some deposits at the bottom from the past 13 years of fuelling up.

Is there a drain plug to emply it out? Is there an easy way to flush it out? Should I expect to find a clean tank? Never worked there before, need some advice and suggestions.

I was going to try to use up as much fuel as I can, but at this point the connector is torn off the sending unit and I have no way of knowing the fuel level, so approx I start off with a 1/2 filled tank or so.

Thanks,

Greg Mustang
