failed emissions 1985 third time 200

I can only speak from experience. I thought platinum plugs would work wonders on my car when I decided to do a DIY tune-up on my baby. I got Bosch platinum plugs and gapped them to spec. After installing them, I fired her right up. She ran like crap. I rechecked the gap and tightness of the plugs, reinstalled them and it still ran like crap. I thought maybe that was normal and that it would go away after driving around for a bit. I ran with platinum plugs for about 2 weeks. The rough running did not go away or improve. Sometimes it was difficult to even start the car. I decided to just get the standard Bosch plugs. Wow, what a difference! It ran way better and "normal" with standard plugs.
