740 GLE Cranks but wont Start - 1987 700

I am checking out a 740 with 160K miles which is for sale (1987). The owner says it was running fine until recently when several times it has failed to start after being driven to work. The engine cranks but refuses to fire up. He said it eventually restarted and he got it home and drove it for a few days without incident, but the problem recurred and now it refuses to start at all. The weather has been very cold lately, in the teens or so. He wants to get rid of it for $700. Does this sound like a good deal? Any suggestions? Is this a nice model in general?
