Help with injector theory.... 200 1982

Hello,
I've been through FAQ's and can't find the info I'm looking for. My 82 LH-1 is having starting problems, actually they have advanced to permenant failure thanks to me bustin the fuel rail. Anyway, my question, during the cranking process what tells the injectors to fire, and at what rate? I'm getting a good spark at all 4 plugs, so its not ignition related. So my attention has been turned to the fuel system, although the damn thing smells like a Citgo station after trying it for awhile. I'm going to check the ohms on the injectors and then pull the plugs and see if I see varying voltage there, but if its not there, what tells the injector to fire. I'm assuming the LH-2 is similar, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks...
