service and engine light on 200 1990

brickhead,

BEFORE your blood pressure causes your 'check heart' light to come on, I suggest you disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. this is the procedure used to 'reset' the onboard diagnostics (OBD) that makes the "check engine" light come on in the first place.

If you had a spurious event that caused the light to come on, resetting the OBD MAY be the only action required.

BTW, leave the battery disconnected for at least 10 minutes...trust me on that.

good luck
