Susan came over last night and since I had both heaters going I had
the temp in the garage up to about 35°F. We finished putting in and
wiring up the ignition system from the 75 240 B20F. Susan got in and
cranked the car while I watched. Didn't start or even fire.
So I pulled #2 plug, which was pretty slimy, and put it on top of the
valve cover and watched while she cranked. BRILLIANT white spark, right
through the slime, so it was obvious the ignition was working. I pulled
off the gas line from the front carb, put it into a can and had her crank
it again. Nothing. So I pulled off the inline filter, blew backward through
it, getting a few drops of gas but no dirt, put the line from the pump over
the can again and cranked. Still nothing. Told her to watch while I pulled
the gas cap and blew into the tank. After considerable blowing she said,
"I can hear it but I can't see anything coming out!" I could hear it too.
Note that the gas gauge, normally accurate, was showing 1/4 full at the time.
So I put a couple gallons of gas in the car, raising the gas gauge indication
to about half full. Put the filter back on and cranked again, and after about
20 seconds got a good strong fuel pulse. Hooked it back to the carb and
pretty soon it started right up and ran well.
I haven't been into the tank but I wonder if my fuel pickup line is broken
off or something......
Anyway I now have a good HOT spark!!
Any opinions on the fuel problem would be appreciated.

my brother-in-law in Houston slipped into the Father's presence last
night so I will be offline from Sunday till Tuesday.
