Broken Hood release cable fix?

When my 1979 245 had signs of cable rust (danged hard to move) I got another cable from a recycle yard. Never put it in, so it's out in BGVPD somewhere.

As I recall, getting it out of the wreck did not reveal another clamp. Big rubber grommet at the firewall that was hard to get out, and the clamps at the latch mechanism itself. None other.

If the outer sheath is OK, you may be able to thread another cable wire through it. There are no sharp corners in the route. Use something to lubricate it, something that won't dry out and get hard. Maybe white lithium grease?

Good Luck,

Bob
