'82 240 engine racing 200

Hey all,

My '82 244 has developed a weird tendency to go to a wide-open throttle type of scream when it's outside of the "Drive" position. It only seems to do it when the engine has reached warm operating temps, as it's normal when it's cold. Back on my old '80, I (presumably) could have fixed this problem by tweaking the little idle control dial that was under the intake manifold. I can't seem to find that same thing on this slightly different engine, and even if I could, I'm wondering if that would fix it. Is there some kind of valve I need to replace? I'm guessing this is a common problem for these machines, as I've heard of it happening to some of my other Volvo comrades.

TIA for any tips.
