Washing the underbody

Over here, it’s been crazy weather for a while. Freezing temperatures for a few days, then warm (sort of) and rainy, and then back to the arctic winter. During the cold periods I have to take my poor "Sven-Göran" out on the salted roads. Hate it. This is not a healthy environment for an old Volvo, even if I am washing the body as soon as the temperature permits and have the car completely rust-proofed every four year.

So a while back I got a very useful accessory to my Kärcher pressure washer: An underbody wand – simply a long jet tube with a 90 deg. angle at the nozzle end. This handy tool enables me to rinse every nook and cranny of the underbody in a much more effective way than my previous methods: the garden hose, the lawn sprinkler(!), the car wash at the gas stations etc.

Just thought I’d pass it along. I reckon Sven-Göran’s life expectancy has now increased with at least ten years!

Erling.
