90' 740GLE 16v DOHC. Help is needed! Cheers all 700 1990

Ok, here we go! This is where things are now.
After all of that work at Jim's Imported Car Care, my car's would not start at all and it was totally done in. The car was towed to a strictly volvo repair shop, and found:
a: Ground and harness lines fried.
b: dashboard wiring toasted.
c: seems electrical system just dusted the bed.

What I need an opinion on is what I think could have happened from the first mechanic which I might be taking legal action? I am a computer engineer.
Is it possible that while Jim's Imported was taking out the various boards,(ie: ECT, Fuel pump relay)that by him not disconnecting the computer before doing all of this, that by him putting this replaced items back that it would cause all these areas to fry? I know that, that is the case with computers I work on, I beleive this to be the same thing that happened with my car. The electrical system was toasted in various parts especially back by the firewall.
All items was repaired at a cost of $306 but the car still runs rich. Any ideas on a cure or thought on why the car's fuel is running rich?
