rear tail light wiring dilema 200 1984

Help. I just bought two PC Boards for my 84's tail lights. I got two of the clip ons that connect the wiring to the lights from a repair shop. My trouble; the wires from the harness are various colors and the wires in the clips are totally different. I have 7 or 8 options on each side (based on the clips) but as of yet cannot determine which go to which. I need...a definitive answer as to which of the 7 do what on the left and the right, and...what colors coming from the harness attach to what. Incidentally, I realized my headlight switch had melted, requiring replacement...I want it all to work, including back-ups. I've gotten wiring diagrams, but to no avail...anyone?
