SRS Light on- after cleaning engine... help! 900

I cleaned my engine with degreaser and washed it off with water. Since then, the SRS light has come on and has not gone off.

I used the AB diagnostic boxes to check fault codes and it comes up with 1-1-2 (internal fault in the sensor unit). I have tried to reset the fault code and it does not seem to reset, as the light contimues to stay on.

What could have happened to cause this fault. It happened immediately following the cleaning of the engine so I feel as though this is the culprit in some way.

Any advice in tracing this and curing problem is GREATLY appreciated!
