Swapping rear axels , gas mileage question 700

worse yes, but it depends on how fast you drive...I have an 85 765 turbo that had an AW71 auto with 3.73 in the rear. on trips i could only get 23 mpg (70-80 mph) I swapped the auto with an m-46, i now turn more RPM's on the freeway...at 65 ill get 26-27 mpg, at 70-80 and up ill get 23. around town with the auto i was getting 13, with the m-46 I am getting 14-15MPG. It will change, but only 1 or 2 points, maybe. you will notice it on the freeway though...there are all kinds of websites with ratio/engine/vehicle speed calculators...just punch in tire size, rear end ratio, trans ratio, and engine speed, or any combo there of and youll get an answer....
