Fuel Filler Neckectomy 444-544

After overfilling my 1963 544 with gas, I noticed a small puddle of fuel forming on the ground below the filler neck. A closer inspection revealed that the fller neck was connected to the fuel tank via a short legnth of black flexible tubing with hose clamps on either end. The fuel was leaking from the lower connection between the fuel tank stub and the flexible hose.

I suspect that this is not a stock connection. Am I driving a pyrotechnic device with active fuse?

Thanks,

Joe
