Phil S. Do You Copy ?? 140-160

VERY INTERESTING...

Also impressed with your good economy with DCOEs. These are popular with the Z folks, but have a reputation of being horrible uneconomical. I met a guy that had Z's with triple DCOEs and triple Mikunis. He said he thought the DCOEs were more tunable.

Dyno tuning is apparently essential to proper carb setup with these bad boys. It sounds like you'd better get all your ducks in a row if your gonna be tweeking carbs and timing at the same time.

Funny thing about my Pinging 260 w/ dual DGVs - it occurs at almost WOT, but not quite. I'm pretty sure the secondary barrels are already substantially open. If I either back off the throttle or give it full WOT the Pinging vanishes. A mystery. If Pinging were more severe, then I'd look into it more energetically. As it's manageable, I keep on driving.

I'm thinking of building a couple of DIY-WB.com fuel-air ratio meters, one for each carb exhaust, but unfortunately the Honda sensors are NLA from NAPA at $170/pop but are now only available at $250/pop from Honda. (Dirty rat bastards caught onto the DIY'ers.)

Can you recommend any good references on carb/dizzy performance tuning? It seems like the tuners who are really up on this are keeping their secrets to themselves.

Later,
Al
