cooling fan won't kick on 900

Hi guys. Just wanted to verify my thermostat switch/cooling fan switch is bad on our 92 940. I jumped the connected wires to the two leads on the thermostat switch (plugs into the radiator just above the top tranny cooling line) and the fan kicks on. When the car exceeds operating temperature, the fan will not kick on. When I turn the a/c on, the cooling fan only kicks on for a few seconds (at what seems to be a low rpm) and then turns off. As soon as the a/c compressor quits cycling, the cooling fan will kick on again for a few seconds and turn off. All the while, the coolant is begining to exit the overflow/fill container. However, when I jump the two leads on the switch, the fan seems to run the way it's supposed to - full power.

It's got to be a bad switch, right? Thanks!
