Swap 561 ECU for 961 200 1990

The 561 ECU has a reputation as shady as the V6 PRV motors. I plan to keep my '90 project car for a long time and was thinking of dumping it's 561 ECU for a 961. Car runs VG except for a high-idle problem that may or may not be the ECU's fault. Also, the fuel pump continues to run when key removed, so I'm thinking this 561 already made someone's life interesting. So, I'm thinking why wait for it to cause more trouble?

My question is: Are these things interchangeable, or (since we're talking computer) is the 961 plug and play in this car?
