Alternator question 200

I ordered some alternator bushings from IPD (will get to me Tuesday) and with the radiator and water pump removed, decided to try to remove the alternator. I decided to leave it in when I ran into problems getting wires/connectors disconnected from the alternator. The ground came off easy, but the connector didn't want to come loose and another wire from the back of the alt to a spark plug looking device on the block looked difficult.

I now know I can leave the alt on and change the bushings but I discovered the ground wire and the other single wire had a lot of insulation missing. Is there a relatively easy fix such as wrapping with electrical tape for the time being as I will probably be replacing the harness within a year?
