Electrical Problems 200 1983

I was driving my brick the other day, and after having driven it about 15 - 20 miles i parked it, and it wouldnt start again. after jumping it, i was drivng, and the radio (a sony that i put in) started to malfunction. it would loose powere completely, randomly, and then power back on. one time, completely resetting the radio (clock, presets, etc.) so that night, driving back, i had unplugged the radio harness (just a precaution) but i also noticed that i seemed to be draining the battery and not getting power from the alternator, as the car would start to hesitate on acceleration or on hills, and the lights continued to dim and dim. i'm gonna replace the belts, as they are fairly worn, and squeaky, but while i'm in there i was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.
