760 parking brake woes 700 1988

Hi all
I recently found out how my 1988 760GLE rear brakes were put together. I mastered disassembly but seem to have a problem with reassembly. The parking brake cables need to be replaced and I suspect the dealer will get a piece of my tax return, any aftermarket? Also, if anyone has reassembled one of these please pass along any tips I can use to avoid an entire weekend in brake dust and rust. The shoes for the handbrake (man, I hate drum brakes) are hard to reassemble- please help.
