Strange CR-915 Radio Fix 900

This is my son's new '95-944T that we got at a deep discount because of the dozen or so fixable problems that turned others away. The boy has started to turn, he has started to turn into a BrickHead. He is a Brickboard fan and I'm sure he'll sign in soon.

Second day of ownership, had to get the radio working. Priorities, ya know. I got the code over the phone from a dealer and entered it and "code" changed to EEEE. Per the owners manual put the key in pos. I for two hours, radio on. Got the "code" again but now it would not accept any numeric inputs, antenna stuck up, LCD backlight on all the time, even with the with the ign key out!
The fix: With Ignition key out radio off, we were going to disconnect the battery, then decided pulling the fuse, #5, would be "cleaner". After 10 seconds with little hope, put the fuse back in. There was a big little spark at the fuse. Radio back light went out, antenna retracted (hence the spark), and hope returned. Ign key back at II, got the "code" again and input the four numbers and we're jamming out of four speakers from a functioning radio.

One down and 11 to go. Monday a front end alignment. Steering wheel off center, pulling a little to the right.
