When replacing the vaccum hoses.. 200 1984

... is there anything to really watch out for? Any special type of hose needed?

This was going to be a "why does my car run soo poorly when cold" type of post. And boom, a severed hose from the rpm sensor to the air intake mess. Can I use any sort of rubber vaccum hose or do I need to buy something more fuel/oil resistant? Would some of those pretty colored silicone hoses offer any benefit other than the weight savings from my wallet?
