Idle increase with fan use 700

Hello all, I have an automatic 1987 760 turbo. When I turn on the heater fan (ACC) the idle increases about 250rpm to about 1000rpm. I wanted to know if this is typical or not and if there is any way to correct this. A friend of mine has a ford mustang which when the defrost setting is used on the heater controls, the ac compressor will turn in order to keep parts turning smoothly during winter months when ac is not needed. Does the Volvo hvac system do anything like this as well, could this be the reason for the high idle. Thanks in advance.
