I am at the end of my rope with my brother's wagon. I recently replaced the wiring harness because of electrical gremlins that had been haunting the car for a while. It ran beautifully for a week, after that all hell broke loose. The car will start, but idles at anywhere from 200-500 rpm. Punching the gas causes it to bog, but most of the time it will rev smoothly after that. Also when it bogs it will pop and spit (backfire?) through the throttle body (would this fry my air mass meter?). The funny thing is if you actually can get the car to idle and let it sit to warm up it will rise to about 900-1000 rpm and the car will run fine. Every once in a while it will loose power suddenly, but it will recover just as quickly. I've checked the throttle position sensor which seems to be fine ("clicks" as it's supposed to), but I did notice that the condition doesn't change if I disconnect it. The air mass meter has given me no problems as of yet, but I disconnected that and the car simply died right then which would lead me to believe it's working fine. Can anyone give me some more leads to chase down here? I have to go back to school on Wednesday so the sooner I find this problem the better.
Thanks,
Matthew
