Crosswinds 900 1993

My wife called me after her trip to work this morning and said she almost was blown off the road several times by a wind gust. Fishtailing mainly. There was about 1/2" of packed snow on the roadway and we have new Blizzaks on the 940 wagon. I have 70lb of sand in the back directly behind the back seat. Is this sand a help or hinderance? I only drive a few miles to work whereas she drives 30 miles. Would it be better if I switched the snows to the 240?? Would that make a big difference interms of buffeting due to crosswinds? Anybody elses thoughts or experiences?

Thanks,

Matt
