Alternator bushing question 200

Tonight I will try to put in the 3 IPD bushings in the alternator bracket on my 1985 DL. Re they as difficult to get in as they are to take out. It's hard getting enough leverage especially on the one closest to the firewall.
Any tips/tricks as to getting them in reasonably easy?

Also, will the alt adjustment bracket with the banana shaped slot reorient itself when I reinstall it and the alternator as I noticed there is no key on it to relocate it exactly as it was?
