Problem adding an Intercooler to an 83Turbo 200

Regarding your question about adding an intercooler:

The stock intake setup incorporates a throttle cable spindle that's mounted vertically. It accommodates the cruise cable also, and thats the problem. The 90 degree casting that mates the manifold with the (non-intercooled) hose from the turbo (across the engine) and is designed to clear the "side mounted" spindle, while the intercooler output (from the driver's side of the compartment) goes directly aft and interferes with the spindle. I have an intercooler setup from an 85 244T which I thought would be a simple bolt on 83 245T, but, not so. The only solution I've brainstormed is to use an intake manifold from a 700T with the horizontal spindle. I'd be interested if anyone has experience with this.
