auto tranny 'judder' 200 1985

Hi,

My '85 245 with B230F and AW70 auto transmission has been having a "judder" when accelerating from a crawl (about 5 mph) but occurs only at this very low speed and disappears after it accelerates above 10mph. It is particularly intense when coming over a hump.

I have brought it to a specialty transmission repair shop who overhauled the tranny abd replaced the hosing because the journal which holds the tailshaft bushing had been worn. He also replaced the tailshaft bushing and seal, all the replaceable parts like oil seals, gasket, etc. My driveshaft is also in good shape and properly aligned with respect to each other. 'U' joints also okay. I've spent around $1500 on this alone and although the "judder" is minimized, the transmission still isn't as smooth as it used to be.

Any ideas about what could be the problem? Thanks in advance.
