Brake Failure Light On and Pedal Goes Further Down. Why? 200 1986

Hey There!

I drove my 86 245 for the first time in 3 weeks yesterday. After driving a while, I came to a stop and noticed that my pedal went further to the floor and the brake failure light came on. The car stops fine and the brake fluid resevoir is not low. Does this signify a master cylinder problem or a wheel cylinder problem?

Thanks in advance,
Erich Elmer
