fuel pressure 1800 1972

Thad,

Key to maintaining the pressure after shut down is a check valve located on the fuel pump discharge nipple. Should this fail, the fuel is allowed to drain back through the pump immediately upon shutdown. On my car the P.O.'s mechanic removed it in order to remediate leaky injectors. No residual pressure=no leaky injectors after shutdown. Took me the better part of a year to locate and correct all the rube goldberg fixes applied to my car. You may also want to ensure the fiber washers/insulators are installed between the bottom of the injector pedestal and cylinder head as well as under the head of the bolt that secures the pedestal to the head.
