Update! 444-544

Ok, so I just got the shock of my life today. After spending 3 or 4 months disassembling and sanding the PV, I finally had the relatively straight shell towed to the body shop Monday for some welding, some minor dent pulling, and paint (oh, and modifying the driveshaft tunnel to accept a beautiful M41 I have on my garage floor). I budgeted about $3000-3500 for this process, figuring I was erring on the side of caution.
When the estimate came back today, it came in at a whopping $5500 including tax. And that doesn't include putting the car back together, which I was going to do myself anyway. Oh, well. I told the guy that I'm not in a big hurry, and since he's got a big shop he doesn't care if the car sits in a corner for the next 3 or 4 months while he does a little at a time between other jobs. So much for cruising this summer. :)
At least I have a couple of extra fenders sitting around that may be better than the ones on the car, so that may save me a few hundred bucks, and I tracked down a $100 repair panel that I was going to have to pay $400 to have fabricated, so I may get this all down to $4000 or so, but we'll see. I'll keep you posted! For now it's back to High Life and Top Ramen for a while.....
