Water Pump Question B21 200 1981

If a water pump is leaking a drop or two out the hole in the bottom of the housing, does this necessarily mean it's going bad? My pump was installed four years ago, which on this car is about 10k ago. It was a high quality pump ($78). When I was taking off some stuff to replace the timing belt I noticed a drop or two of coolant, one drop in the hole on the pump, and one below on the pump housing. There's no play in the shaft, and I haven't heard it make any noises. What do you make of this?
