Blaupunkt stereo question 700

I just bought a new Blaupunkt Casablanca CD player to install in my '85 740. It has automatic level control which adjusts volume according to engine speed. There is a white wire coming out of the harness labeled "GALA" which is supposed to make this work. Does anyone have any idea what this is supposed to connect to? Will this feature work with my car, or is this some feature only included in new vehicles? I will also be calling Crutchfield (where stereo was purchased), but I wanted the benefit of any brickster experience.
