Bad Alternator ??? 200 1993

Hi All,

Yesterday I cranked my car and all the dash lights came on, my SRS and ABS stayed on longer than normal. The dash lights then went off but a few lights stayed on and were very dim. The car drove fine on the way home. This morning the same thing ... but waiting in traffic the radio cut off and on, the SRS & ABS lights came on and the car stalled and died. The battery is only 3 months old. It sounds like my alternator is dead and the car has been running off of my battery. Questions: Does the alternator have a regulator on it? Is it external or internal? Who is a good source for alternators and how much should I expect to pay? Should I go ahead and upgrade to a more powerful alt.? Also, if I got it fixed at a dealer how much should I expect to pay?

Too many questions huh? But your input is valuable.
