Paint Prep Question 200

Well, I've decided that the car definately needs paint, but I'm on a tight budget since I'm back in school.
so I'll probably prep the car myself and have it sprayed at the dreaded maaco.
I've never done this before so if anyone with experience can give my a step by step procedure and necessary supplies that would be great.
and if anyone is located near Philly and would like to lend a hand for some beer or something, I wouldnt refuse...

Also if I prep and buy the paint will other places spray the car cheaply?

Thanks, brian
