M46 reluctant shifter 700 1988

Looks like I'm experiencing a common malady with the M46. I have 185,000 miles and my symptoms match those I've found in the FAQ. Hard getting into 1st & 2nd. I picked up an OD cover gasket and tomorrow will change the lube. On several folks suggestions, I'm going to 1/2 quart ATF type F and Synthetic 10W30 (I have Mobil 1 on the shelf in the garage) for the balance. It'll be nice to have a smoother shifting brick.

While I'm at it I'll bleed the clutch line. With the pedal on the floor it's completely disengaged. About an inch off the floor and the car starts to creep. Normal? I'll check the FAQ again to see where the engagement point should be.

Great board,
