studs and bolts 140-160

I imagine that studs are used instead of bolts because it would
be impossible to line things up without having the studs in place
ahead of time.

My question is -- my 164 arn manifold has 9 mounting holes that
are through a single piece of metal and 11 that are shared between
2 different pieces of metal (one next to an exhaust port the other
next to an intake port).

Would it make sense to use studs on the 9 complete holes and
bolts on the other 11? I've got enough of those big dished
washers so that isn't a problem.

Are bolts stronger than studs? (assuming that all the materials
are the same -- grade 8 bolts vs grade 8 studs + grade 8 nuts).
