Oxy Sensor fault code 200 1989

Last month I replaced the oem heated O2 sensor with a Bosch universal unheated (single wire) one. After 220,000 km and with pollution check coming up I figured I owed the car something.

It worked fine for a month, but last two weeks I was out of town with a failed thermostat during the cold weather I put about 1000 km with the temp gauge barely above the bottom line. finally fixed the thermostat last week, now I get a check engine light with code 2-1-2 (Signal missing/faulty from oxygen sensor). Reset the codes three times, it keeps coming back after about 1/2 hr driving.

Are these two related? I did go a month with no error.

The FAQ says this code is caused by "Wiring fault to heated O2S sensor", but I won't check the wiring until late this afternoon.

The car drives just fine, but I dont want to go to pollution check with check engine light on.

Any advice?
