This was ugly, but worked well in the end...
I took the fuel return setup off of an Alfetta, which returned fuel thru its fuel gage sender plate, and brazed it to the stock 122 cover. It has an integral level sender, so, with some further fiddling, I also got a working fuel sender out of the deal...
Sort of....
Not advised, but now that it's done, it works pretty well, no fuel heating or surging issues so far...
