Play in driveshaft support bearing? 700 1988

While under the car today I grabbed the driveshaft and wiggled just looking for problems. I'm not experiencing any driveshaft u-joint related symptoms. Anyway, is there supposed to be an radial play in the bearing? I can move the driveshaft and bearing around in the metal carrier. Nothing looks loose or is making any noise. How does this thing work? Does the bearing float in the carrier?

I don't have any experience with these so I'm asking if this is normal, acceptable or is there a problem?

Thanks,
