AW70 'chatter' 200 1985

I'm experiencing what my mechanic calls "chatter"...which is really sort of a juddering vibration coming from under the shifter in the transmission tunnel area when the selector is in the 'Drive' position and only whille accelerating from 0 mph to around 10 mph. It is especially obvious when going over a hump or in rough roads.

The first time I brought the '85 245GL to the transmission specialist, he said something about reprogramming the working pressure or something like that. Upon taking the tranny down, he discovered the journal which bears the tailshaft housing and bushing had been worn so a whole new transmission housing assembly was supplied togetrher with new bushings seals etc., all of which cost about $1400. The result is slightly less vibration but still not as smooth as before the trouble started ans certainly not worth the $$$.

Anyone of you guys out there have suggestions for a cure? Also, 'U' joints and prop shaft are in good condition and seem to be properly "phased" with each other.

Thanks in advance.
