Alternator Question 900

Hello all, I am getting my car ready for spring / summer road trips and I have a question about my alternator.

I have a 94 945T with the "bigger" alternator with the black plastic cover on the back, rated 55-100 amps. I have been told that you can't replace the brushes in this alt. Is that true? I haven't taken it out to look yet so I am unsure. The brushes on my 240 wore out at 140k and I am at 130k now. Occasionally, (twice) all the warning lights on my dash have come on dimly, but just long engouh for me to look down at them for a split second and have them go out. I don't know if that was that alternator or not because I have crappy connections that I have yet to fix for good behind my dash and I haven't installed a voltmeter yet. pretty soon though, I am going to install a voltmeter and oil pressure guage under the radio.

I do also punish it with my radio and accessories...

As always, thanks a lot!
