oil foam 900 1996

Why am seeing foam & coffee w/cream color on my dipstick? My son drives very short trips in this car and now that I am not using it to commute I have cut the oil change down from 10k to 5k/6 mo. Also switched from using Mobil 1 5W30 to Castrol Synthetic 10W40 based on analysis saying viscosity was too low. No funny smell to the oil, no missing coolant. I am nearing the end of the 6 mo.and plan to analize the oil again. The car may be running extra rich during warm up - you can smell it if you are behind it after a cold start. About 134k on it.
