M46 Question 700

I have an 86 745T with an M46 in it, this trans will eventually make it's way into my 94 945T around march/april, whenever this SNOW MELTS, at was almost gone, then we got another foot on fri.

It feels pretty good to me now, but it does not feel new however, with 222K on it, I drained the fluid too when I got it and put in mobil 1 atf. The old stuff looked good with "normal" metal collections on the drain plug.

I read in the FAQ that you could put 10w30 motor oil in this thing, sounds better to me than the watery ATF volvo wants me to use. Will probrably quiet it down too. Any thoughts? Would it be bad for the overdrive?

Thanks!
