164 windshield :Removal and Replacement 140-160

The pros rarely take a windshield out in one piece. They usually break up the one they're removing, and clean up the sealing area and lay the new one on with new sealant. I would give you about a 25% chance of success in getting it out in one piece. A few calls to windshield shops though will turn up a big difference in price. Some try to charge the "insurance" rate and then offer discounts off that. New windshields for these cars cost about $125 USD wholesale. They charge you $300-400 to install one. There's some room to move on the price! Anyway the windshield is the same as a 240 in both cars. You can upgrade to the 91+ style glass with black rubber around it instead of the chrome. The chrome trim makes it a LOT more difficult to install. Personally I like the look of the car with the right trim on it but it may not be worth the hassle. Also, it's very difficult to work with this sealer when it's cold out. If you're actually in Winnipeg, you're going to need the car to warm up inside somewhere for a while before you try to do this. At 30 below that sealer is hard as a rock. In the summer, much much easier- it becomes gummy and flexible. We've gotten windshields out using a T-handle on an old tractor's choke cable. That actually worked quite well. You'll probably have to go around a couple of times since the stuff sticks back together. Have another person pushing the window out as you cut the seal. Good luck!
