Sway bar bushing causing clunk 200

I think I found the source of the clunking sound on my 1985 240 DL (134,000 miles). I looked underneath the car tonight and noticed on the passenger side of the car the track rod (sway bar?) bushing was completely out of the housing at the end of the rod. I'll get a better look at it and the trailing arm bushings tomorrow but the latter seemed to look OK.

Do I have to jack up the car and use jack stands etc. in order to get the track bar/bushing off?
