Buying a 1987 240DL Wagon with 244,000 miles: Need Advise Please. 200

Guys,

I am seriously considering this wagon even though it has high miles. By inspection, the few things I noted were:

- Little oozing from the left side Rack & pinion seal: will this get much worse with time ????

- Owner says timing belt was replaced two years ago: Doesn't have receipt. Do these have interference engines? Should I worry about this sucker breaking and ruining my engine?

Other than, the car is 1 owner, repainted in 1999 due to fading paint, timing belt replaced at least 3/4 times from what receipts were available, new AC unit, Michelin tires, new brake job, regular oil changes etc.

I am buying this or my woman so she can haev something safer till we can afford a newer Volvo. Please advise as to what things I should pay special attention to when I inspect this car again tonight.

Thanks for reading!

Azeez.
